Chesham Community Fridge wins Mayoral volunteer Team award 2019
Founder, Pauline Kirkham, also receives nominee certificate for people's award
CHESHAM, Buckinghamshire, May 9th, 2019 - As part of the Annual Town Meeting of Chesham Town Council 2019, the Chesham Community Fridge was awarded Best Volunteer Team. The Mayoral Awards, which are nominated by the public, recognise community services and were presented by Mayor Cllr Jane MacBean along with a prize of £150 for each category.
The Fridge, now in its 9th month, has already redistributed over 14 tonnes of good food that would otherwise have gone to landfill and is averaging roughly a quarter tonne of food per opening!
Pauline Kirkham, the Charity's founder, also received a personal nomination for the Mayoral People's Award for her work. She added "I'm so proud of all the work that the team has put in to making this project a success. I'd like to thank each and every one of our volunteers for all their time and dedication. We wouldn't be able to do this without them. And an extra special thank you to Jane MacBean, the Mayor, for all her support and help."
